A couple of years ago a good family friend posted her daughters going to the shop and randomly giving a complete stranger a flower for Christmas. As it was on facebook I thought that this was such a great kind gesture so we also took our girls to the local shops to also pay it forward. We were all taken back by the story (2015) the older gentleman told us as he and his wife sat in the chemist waiting for the prescription, the joy of the ladies face was 100% priceless and her husband had a small tear as we shared that moment together.
Last year I was not 100% well myself and while the girls still went out with mum to #payitforward I was not able to share the heartfelt moments. Then we got thinking that maybe we should see who else would get involved and how far we can spread the #ChristmasSpirit.
2017 – Emily and Brianna went to the Hallett Cove shops and purchase a small tin of biscuits and some lovely flowers. A very warm and friendly lady sitting in the coffee shop on her own, Emily approach with a lovely smile, “Merry Christmas”. We had a little chat (explaining what we were doing and the life lesson) with this lady and were heartened to know that such a small token could have a big impact, this time last year she was in hospital and has been struggling all year with her health – you never know someone’s story until you ask.
Next stop was our favourite coffee shop where we were greeted by the friendly staff, Brianna patiently waited while the coffee was being made getting a little nervous, wasn’t long till the warm fuzzy feeling for spreading the #ChristmasSpirit was felt, Bree even got a job offer out of it.
Over the years we have seen many social media challenges go viral and many if not most all for good reasons. You never know what someone is thinking at this time of year and like we experienced first hand an elderly couple were brought to tears from the #RandomActofKindness my daughters displayed.
I know it is a crazy time of year and we spend too much money on everything, but we are the lucky ones. We would like you to be part of this by heading to your local anywhere with a small token (flowers, card, anything really) and select a stranger to give it to them – spreading the #ChristmasSpirit then take a selfie (make sure you ask) and upload using twitter #ChristmasSpirit #RandomActOfKindness and challenge 2 friends to do the same and see how far this will go.
Of course, the upload is just to spread the message and be part of the challenge, the real value is participating, along with the warm fuzzy feeling for you and the chose one!
To kick-start this off we are going to challenge the following friends and family, spread the #ChristmasSpirit early so you can tag your friends #RandomActOfKindness

- Daniel & Tanya
- Kelly & Craig
- Christina & David
- Alecia & Glenn
