We have arrived back to New York City to explore what this city has to offer and the weather was great :-), which was a small change but a welcomed one. This time we are staying in Radio City Apartments and it is very compact and tight, will be very interesting week. Our apartment is 1 block away from Times Square with the first noticeable thing was the sirens and noise factor but surprisingly having slept here now (reporting) for 2 nights you dont even notice.
Our first night and I had promised the girls that we would return back the the Worlds largest M&M store – its 3 stories of M&M’s, we enjoyed a nice dinner at Planet Hollywood and I was surprised with this “birthday dessert”, we also stream a live video of Times Square and if you have not seen it click Live.
Today (21/05) we woke up to a slower start as one of our tours (bike) had been cancelled due to Walk for Aids in Central Park, we did however still have our Central Park TV and Movie Walking Tour to join. This tour was very informative and a great way to see 15% of Central Park on a beautiful sunny day, it was busy due to the Walk for Aids celebration but what part of New York is not busy 🙂 and we all had a great couple of hours.
Central Park
The park was established in 1857 on 778 acres (315 ha) and continued to expand during the civil war to its current size of 843 acres (341 ha) in 1873, it has always been set below street level to block out the street level noise, its actually amazing that how this works and given back in the 1857 there foresight of this advancement was spot-on. The gardens, lakes and everything in there has been purposely built to design with many parts of the park being designed (redesigned) by winners of competitions, all the lakes have controllable water levels.

- Plaza Hotel – Home Alone 2
