Miami in a Day

This morning we started very early and headed to our pick up zone for a day trip tour down to Miami, this was no ordinary tour though as we stopped at the Florida Everglades for an airboat ride to look out for Gators in their natural habit. Our first stop in Miami was South Beach which is where you might see a celebrity chilling out and then onto Bayside to board a cruise boat to see where the rich live, before returning home again.

  • Everglades BoatRide
This is a great ride in the everglades in an airboat craft, we only saw the head of 1 gator and you had to be very quick to see it. The experience was more about the ride than the gators as our tour operator indicated that we might not see any based on they are in their natural environment and really are nocturnal animals. • South Beach Miami
The awe of the this place is amazing and we shocked by all the sights we saw, at lunch some girls decided to sit out in front of our window table wearing only swim suits – and clearly had no intention on going to the beach. After lunch we jumped on some bikes to ride down the esplanade where we saw the muscle men working out (pretty impressive) and 6 pack volleyball comp and we snuck into Miami Ink for a quick photo. The beach was a sight you could only imagine and hopefully this can be seen in my photos but you really need to see it.

  • BaySide Miami
A bay that has had $140 million dollars spent on it and the cruise boats both docked and out on the water smash any boat at the Glenelg marina. We boarded our tour cruise where we saw more very impressive water crafts as well as where the rich live, which includes Fisher Island where you can only get to it by ferry and it has its own golf course, tennis arena, banks and shops just to name a few. Condo owners include people like Boris Becker, Andre Agassi, Julia Roberts and Oprah Winfrey and more.
5 Star Island is another hot homestead and has another stream of rich people living on it not so much famous to the public but nevertheless still very impressive.

Overall you do get the sense of money in Miami especially on the waters of Bayside, I would like to go back to Miami someday and have a greater dive into the areas as the bus tour only gave us a couple of hours in each location so we did not even touch the surface.

  1. You are absolutely right that the sense of money is especially present in Miami. I have a dream to buy an Everglades boat and keep it in a Miami marina.
