Legoland

Today we headed out to Legoland where you imagination of building is endless, like most other parks this is also broken into themed areas for your enjoyment, don’t forget the rides as well. We were expecting some rain today with a very warm and humid day, ponchos ready..

I was the pilot today and we headed straight for the 4 coasters of the day, if I have learned anything in these parks, you go to the popular ones in the morning and you will get the smallest lines, we more or less walked straight on all 4 majors one after the other. Unfortunately these coasters are a little back dated and are not built for comfort as they through you around the train, with mumma bear hurting an elbow but I think the girls liked them the most as they were not th biggest thrill but still had a good time.

Being Legoland all the themes were directly related to lego with many lego sculptures around the park (Facebook link) as well as the famous Miniland USA. This area of the park is all about the USA landmarks that have been built in lego and there is certainly a great level of detail here along with mechanics that allows moving lego parts. Besides the rides we managed to watch a water skiing stunt show themed with pirates as well as a 4D lego movie.

The family ride reviews for this park are;

  • The Dragon
A coaster ride that is very short and throws you around the car, mumma bear went on this ride but didn’t enjoy it. Family Review 6/10
  • Coastersaurus
An old wooden roller coaster that is rough all round and very short, the good thing was we didn’t have to wait to get on this ride, Family Review 5/10
  • ProjectX
A 4 seater car coaster that reminds me a lot of the mad mouse in Adelaide expect it has a medium drop at the start before taking on the turn backs, the big down fall with this one was the fact that they kept slowing you down on sections of the track which was worse than the drop. Brianna’s favourite as it has been the only ride that she has wanted to repeat. Family Review 6/10
  • Flying School
An airborne coaster where you sit in the seat with your feet hanging down in the air, the worst of them all for getting smashed in your own seat. This time it was Emily that hurt her head as it banged into the side of the chest bar holding you in, as far as the ride went once again the line was short so was the ride. Family Review 6/10
  • NFPA Rescue Academy
This attraction was all us, as we use a drop bar pump to move hot firetruck to the burning building, all jump of and pump the water from the fire hydrant with Brianna and Emily aiming the water guns at the hole to extinguish the flames, then all back on board to return the truck. An absolute physical test, Family Review 6/10
  • Boating School
Drive you electric boat around the the course, just want you needed after the NFPA attraction, foot down and just steer away around the water way. Family Review 6/10
  • Aquazone Wave Racers
Not to sure what the point of this one was but the ride took you around in a circular motion on a water craft. Brianna and emily were the only 2 that did this one.
  • Ninjago The Ride
3D shooting game with your arms being the guns as you shoot at villain ninjas and other animals along the way in a cart driven on a track, it was a pretty good attraction with cool animation but once again gives you a work out with your arms. Family Review 8/10
  • Safari Trek
Hmm, a track ride that looks at animals built with Lego, mostly for the younger ages.
  • The Lost Kingdom Adventure
Jump in your cart as you go around the tunnels of the ancient ruins shooting at things on the walls with lasers guns. Another pretty good attraction that has been well done. Family Review 8/10
  • Mia’s Riding Adventure
Halfpipe with a you sitting on a seat in a large circle that goes up in the air getting faster as well as spinning in a clockwise and anticlockwise direction, forward and backwards  OMG not sure how littler kids would go on this one as this has been the only ride so far that had me panic at one stage. Family Review 8/10

Thoughts of the Day (Top 3)

  • Lunch was a rip off today with a burger and fries costing $10-$12 US and no drink pp
  • Has some much more potential as it needs a little TLC and updating, especially the Miniland USA
  • Mainly aimed for younger kids but still worth the trip just no need to do again, not enough lego displays
